From an early age, Chitralekha stood out as a bright and inquisitive student. Her insatiable curiosity for science and her fascination with technology led her to set her sights on a career in engineering. However, her aspirations were unconventional and, at the time, not widely accepted for women. In a society that regarded engineering as an all-male domain, pursuing a career in this field was considered taboo for girls. Nevertheless, fueled by her passion and determination, Chitralekha fearlessly pursued her dreams, breaking the barriers set by societal norms.
Chitralekha’s journey in education has been marked by a relentless pursuit of knowledge and a dedication to continuous learning. She completed her undergraduate studies in Electronics Engineering from Nagpur University, which laid the groundwork for her future achievements. Displaying an insatiable thirst for knowledge, she pursued Post Graduate Diplomas in Digital Electronics & Microprocessors and Industrial Management. These achievements not only showcased her strong foundation in engineering but also reflected her commitment to excelling in diverse areas of study.
Chitralekha’s impact transcends academic boundaries, reflecting her unwavering dedication to uplifting women’s lives through education and empowerment initiatives. Her affiliation with UNICEF and various women’s empowerment groups stands as a testament to her commitment. Notably, she has played a pivotal role in liberating young girls from the harrowing grip of prostitution, replacing their past trauma with education and empowerment. Beyond rescue efforts, Chitralekha has personally overseen the placement of these girls into foster care, providing nurturing environments conducive to a promising future. Her guidance doesn’t stop there; she actively steers students away from the plight of child labor, advocating for a virtuous path centered on education.
Furthermore, her support for families engaged in labor-intensive work and her efforts in fostering collaborations between industries and educational institutions significantly enhance students’ hands-on learning experiences, enriching their practical skill sets for future success.
