Please tell us your success story right from your initial performances in digital media to being an internationally recognized singer?
I had been singing since a long time but had never actively made an effort in the field. When the lockdown was imposed, I had the time to focus on my music and that’s when I started uploading my videos on Instagram & YouTube, not expecting anything substantial out of it. On the contrary, people really seemed to enjoy my content and in no time my work got recognised by a large audience. I was then approached by numeral labels but I had to choose wisely since I was new to this field and nobody knew me personally so there was no terrain. Nevertheless, the rest is history.

What is the importance of struggle period in your life. How do you accept challenges in personal and professional life?
Everyone has their own battles to fight. Struggle is very unique to you and cannot be categorised on the basis of specific parameters. In my case, family support was never a problem. My family has been the most supportive since day one. However, I had to face some criticism online for supporting the farmers’ movement most of which was unnecessary hatred. Nevertheless, I always try to look at the unconditional love my supporters give me. These challenges are a part and parcel of being a public figure. What were the challenges faced while playing parallel lead role in the popular punjabi film “Baajre da Sitta”.
How much you are satisfied with your performance?
There were no challenges faced by me in Bajre da Sitta. Everyone on the set was very welcoming including the cast and the crew. I have done theatre in my school days so I was aware of the craft of acting. Working with such a senior and talented cast was truly a fruitful experience for me as it taught me things you can’t learn in books. I am very happy with my performance in the film and so was my director. That said, there is always scope for betterment and I will keep trying to up my game by working harder every time. You have also sung songs for the film “Baajre da Sitta”.

It’s very hard choose one favourite but if I had to choose a few they would be Surmedani, Gali Lahore Di Sone da Chubara and Bajre da sitta.
