When you did the Pilot’s course ( PPL ) did you meet any obstacles during the training or anything else?
Of course there are challenges, people are used to seeing a lot of male pilots so when a woman ventures into it, they see her as a brave woman. I have been in this industry for over 15 years, so I have overcome some of the obstacles. I thank God for that.
We don’t have to dive deep into the discussion about gender equality. What is your personal experience within the aviation industry when it comes to salary, upgrades, and employment ?
Actually, I think the Aviation industry is one of the industries that promotes gender equality, employees are treated equally there’s no discrimination in the industry.
What is the most rewarding with your job?
It’s fun and I like that it’s both the theoretical and practical aspect of it is very interesting. My job gives me the opportunity to work with colleagues from different backgrounds and Nationality. Is fun having to work with them, you learn new thing each day.
What do you enjoy about the aviation industry?
I think it’s very dynamic. You meet a lot of people, see different places and every day is unique because the weather changes and you work with different people. Every month’s schedule is totally different from another.
What have been your best destination so far that you have flown to?
I like London Gatwick a lot, there’s usually a lot of traffic going in and out, and air traffic controllers are really efficient and very good at what they are doing. The airport only have a single runway, that’s what makes it interesting.
What advice would you give someone (young girls) who is considering a career in aviation?
My advice to them is that they should take the first step, by sending in their application. They can as well change their minds later if they are convinced is not for them, but they shouldn’t be afraid to take the first step.Secondly they can also carry out some research on it if they are really interested in considering a career in Aviation industry. It will involve some hard work and determination, but is worth it!
