Raigarh Stadium renovated and upgraded by JSP Foundation
Raigarh has got a big gift on the occasion of National Sports Day. The Raigarh Stadium at Boirdadar has been renovated and upgraded by JSP Foundation at a cost of about Rs.2.50 crores. After rejuvenation, the stadium was inaugurated by State Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Umesh Patel on the occasion of Sports Day. Now the stadium will have facilities of international level badminton court, basketball court, state-of-the-art gymnasium, multipurpose hall and pavilion. New facilities for table tennis, swimming and other sports will also be available here. With these, better resources will be available to the players of the region. MLA Prakash Nayak, Collector Taran Prakash Sinha, Superintendent of Police Sadanand Kumar, District Panchayat CEO Jitendra Yadav, Municipal Commissioner Sunil Kumar Chandravanshi, Executive Director of JSP Sabyasachi Bandyopadhyay and President of Jindal Ladies Club Mrs. Anandita Bandyopadhyay were specially present at the inauguration ceremony. . At the end of the function, players of various sports who have brought laurels to the district at international and national level were felicitated.
JSP Foundation has always been involved with the commitment for the all-round development of the region. It also includes providing appropriate resources and facilities for sports and sportspersons. The Raigarh Stadium located at Boirdadar has been an important center of sports activities for the players and sports lovers of the region as well as for the entire city residents. Collector Taran Prakash Sinha had given the responsibility under CSR to Jindal Steel and Power for the purpose of renovating the facilities already available in this stadium and developing new facilities. The company started the work through its CSR arm JSP Foundation and the work was completed in a short span of about two months. Its inauguration ceremony was organized on the occasion of Sports Day.
Chief guest of the function, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Umesh Patel said on the occasion that “When I got the responsibility of the sports department in the year 2018, only 2 sports academies existed in the entire state and that too was not running. Today In four years, 24 excellence centers and 9 boarding and residential centers are operational in the state. 7 centers are in the pipeline. In this way a total of 40 centers are ready. Earlier we had set a target of building one academy in every district, but by increasing the infrastructure, we have also developed the facility of more than one academy in a district as per the need.”
Mr. Patel said that “Today Raigarh Stadium is seen in a completely new form. I saw the newly constructed gym, badminton court, basketball court, table tennis court, multipurpose hall and the entire stadium here today. For this work, JSP Foundation and Raigarh Collector Taran Prakash Sinha deserves applause. He said that more facilities have to be developed in the stadium in future.” He also requested the JSP Foundation to construct a skating rink for the players in the campus.
MLA Mr. Nayak said in his address said that “I had requested Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Mr. Patel that there is a need to upgrade the sports facilities at Raigarh Stadium. On this, he assured to build a fully equipped stadium here soon. Discussed in this regard with the administration and JSP Foundation. JSP Foundation promptly completed the construction of all the necessary facilities here at a cost of Rs 2.50 crore. Now this stadium is full of all necessary facilities and state-of-the-art facilities are available for the players ” Mr. Nayak thanked the Sports Minister, District Collector and JSP Foundation for this. He hoped that the JSP Foundation would continue to contribute to the development of the region in the future as well.
Collector Taran Prakash Sinha said that “there has been a tremendous atmosphere of sports in the entire state. Many works are being done to promote sports activities. New sports academies are opening in the districts. We have also done the renovation work of Raigarh Stadium by JSP Foundation.” done through.

We are trying that the CSR fund can be utilized for the development of the district with complete transparency. The renovation of Raigarh Stadium is also an example of this. Along with the upgrading of the Raigarh Stadium by the JSP Foundation, work is also being done to increase its height by building a retaining wall on the chakra path, a major problem of the city. On this occasion, Sabyasachi Bandyopadhyay, Executive Director, Jindal Steel & Power welcomed everyone to the program on behalf of JSP Foundation. Expressing happiness, he said that “It is a matter of great pride for everyone to inaugurate the stadium with international standard facilities in Raigarh city on the occasion of Sports Day.” He said that “About two months ago, collector Taran Prakash Sinha had entrusted this responsibility to JSP in a meeting with the hope of developing sports infrastructure in Raigarh. We all know that Jindal Steel and Power Chairman Naveen Jindal himself has been an international player. He is a great sports lover and fitness enthusiast. He has a special attachment to Raigarh. JSP Foundation took this responsibility. Now there are many sports facilities including excellent badminton court, basketball court, multipurpose hall, gym, pavilion etc.” He said that facilities of this level in a single campus is rare not only in Chhattisgarh, but also in the country. Our Raigarh has also become one of those cities.” Shri Bandyopadhyay said that “JSP Foundation is working on multidimensional projects across the country to improve the quality of life of all sections of the society. Under the leadership of Chairperson Mrs. Shalu Jindal, JSP Foundation has improved the quality of life of more than 1 crore people across the country. Presently work is going on in Raigarh itself on several projects with a cost of more than Rs.6 crore. These include Raigarh Stadium as well as many works including chakra path, railway underbridge, pink toilets, dust bin installation etc.” Municipal Commissioner Mr. Chandravanshi expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the project and the ceremony at last. Earlier, on the occasion of Sports Day, a hockey competition was organized at Raigarh Stadium. Four teams participated in it. The team of OP Jindal School, Raigarh emerged victorious. The guests awarded the winning team in the presence of Principal RK Trivedi. During this, public representatives, social workers, players, sports associations were present in the stadium. Representatives and dignitaries were present in large numbers.

Senior sportspersons of Raigarh district, who have brought laurels to the country and abroad by their contribution in the field of sports, were also felicitated during the function. In this, Vincent Lakra, who represented India in the Hockey World Cup, Mrs. Asha Tripathi, national player of women’s hockey, Prem Kishore Pradhan in boxing, Mukesh Chatterjee in football-hockey and athletics, Rajesh Patnaik in Kabaddi, Upendra Singh Thakur in badminton, Vinod Aggarwal in Wrestling, Balbir Sharma in Wrestling, Alexander Topno in Hockey, James Varghese in Football, Vineet Pandey in Basketball and Pankaj Bohidar in Cricket were honored.
JSP Foundation’s special ambulance for animals
A special ambulance service for animals named ‘Jindal Vet Seva’ has been started by JSP Foundation. It was flagged off by Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Umesh Patel, MLA Prakash Nayak and other guests. Through this all-convenient vehicle, arrangements will be made for regular health check-up, treatment, and vaccination etc. of animals in the entire Raigarh block. It will also be of great help in improving the breed of animals through artificial insemination. This will directly benefit the livestock farmers. Efforts are already being made by JSP Foundation to improve the breed of animals through artificial insemination by reaching every village through Govardhan Kranti Yojana. This ambulance will also help in castration required for stray animals as per the norms of the government. This ambulance with experienced veterinarians and para medical staff will regularly visit the entire area and efforts will be made to reach the maximum number of animals. A day before, a special ambulance service of ‘Jindal Vet Seva’ was also started in Angul, Odisha.
In this regard, Chairman of JSP Naveen Jindal said “JSP Foundation has taken a pioneering step in bolstering its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives by incorporating Animal & Husbandry care into its Action Plan. Since its inception, JSP Foundation has been dedicated to uplift the economic conditions of rural farming families while also fostering awareness and care for their domestic livestock resources. This new endeavour aims to support the livelihoods of Agro-based rural farmers who heavily depend on livestock, such as cattle, buffalo, goat, sheep, and poultry. This initiative will also result in production of quality animals through latest technology of Arificial Insemination like sex sorted semen and reduce the load of Stray Animals on the Roads”.
