Life isn’t just about where you are. It is as much about the distance you have travelled. Ankurita Pathak’s journey from a small town to the heart of the nation is one that is marked with dreams, aspirations, fortitude, and compassion. For her, life is an enriching amalgamation of learning, unlearning, conforming, non-conforming and continuously evolving as an individual and a professional.
Ankurita Pathak is an author, poet, TEDx speaker, a certified Life Coach & Trainer, and a seasoned communication professional with 18 years of experience. A former journalist, she is currently working as Joint Director with FICCI. Ankurita worked with Hindustan Times, The Asian Age, and the India Today Group, prior to joining FICCI
A proud alumna of Cotton College, Guwahati, she is also a postgraduate in English from Delhi University. She has recently completed an Organizational Leadership Programme from IIM Calcutta and is DELF A1 certified from the Ministry of Education, France.
In the professional arena, a project that she is very proud of is the Compendium of 100 Successful Women Entrepreneurs in MSME, which was e-unveiled by Shri Nitin Gadkari in May 2020. This compendium is a ready reckoner of 100 inspirational stories of women in MSME, who have ideated, innovated, and worked tirelessly to create a niche and successfully contribute to the economy of the nation. The Ministry of MSME, Government of India has uploaded this Compendium on its portal. It is one of the most memorable and meaningful projects that she has undertaken till date. The process of compiling, creating, and documenting the stories was not just enriching but also highly inspirational for her.
Her tryst with writing began as a 11-year-old, when her first poetry was published in the Northeast times. She has been regularly writing articles, poems, travelogues and short stories for newspapers, magazines, portals, and blogs.
Ankurita has co-authored several anthologies – Concerns & Voices, Daffodils, Pristine Scars, Dreams, Days Passed, I Am Woman, Quiescent Verses, GloMag, to name a few.
In 2020, Ankurita and her brother Ankuran Pathak co-authored a coffee table book titled “Black Coffee & Metamorphosis”. It is a unique and creative amalgamation of photographs and poetry. Through the three chapters – Broken Boulevard, Sea of Stories & Lavender Mornings, the book is a journey of transformation or Metamorphosis from ache to acceptance, struggle to happiness and sense to soul. “Black Coffee & Metamorphosis” has been listed in the 10+ Hoppingo curated coffee table books alongside ‘Masterpieces of Indian Art by Alka Pandey’ and ‘National Geographic Rarely Seen’.
In 2021, Ankurita was invited to be a part of a prestigious project titled “History of 175 Years of Media in Assam and Beyond”, which was published by Mahabahoo (www.mahabahoo.com) associated with Multicultural Educational Development Trust. This publication was a commemorative edition to celebrate the journey of media in Assam that began with the first issue of “Orunudoi” in 1846.
She has also been invited as anchor, moderator, and speaker by various organisations such as IIM Rohtak, DME Management School, Amity University, Bhillai Women’s College, Indraprastha College for Women, Delhi University, Amazing NamastE, Northeast Expo, The Circle of Legends, Toastmasters amongst others.
She has also been featured in several YouTube channels like VJ Talks, Stories by Jaison Abraham, Leadership Lessons by Prashant Handoo, Simplifying Lives podcast by Anish Baheti, Emotional Ability Resources by Pragati Sureka, Manifest Your Quest with Rashi Roop Laxmi, and Guftagu by Diksha Deo.
Ankurita has been featured in the “Century of Tales from the Northeast”, an eBook released by Amazing NamastE, celebrating its 100 episodes of ‘Facebook Live’. Hon’ble Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh released the eBook to mark the momentous journey.
A member of Toastmasters International and Lean in Circle ‘Leaders Lifting Leaders’, and Amazing NamastE, Ankurita is an Indian Achievers Forum Awardee in the category of Outstanding Professional Achievement and Contribution in Nation Building. She has also received special recognition for External PR from Toastmasters International. She was recently felicitated as a Woman Achiever by Cloudnine Group of Hospitals and news portal City Spidey supported by Stunning Divas.
An advocate for financial literacy as a life skill for school children, Ankurita has also been mentoring an EdTech Startup, that works towards spreading knowledge and awareness on the importance of financial literacy especially for kids and at the same time, designing customised curriculum for children of various age to teach the nuances of “Money Matters.”
As a mentor and coach, she has worked with students, corporate professionals, women entrepreneurs, homemakers, parents and helped them in exploring fundamental aspects of positive psychology including strengths, values, and self-compassion, and worked together to enhance their wellbeing.
She works with the A.M.P it Up philosophy (Action- Motivation – Purpose) to support goal setting, personal growth, and behaviour modification and help them achieve their goals. It is usually believed that once you find your purpose, you are motivated to create an action plan to lead your life. However, Ankurita believes that it is Action that leads to Motivation, that ultimately results in discovering the Purpose of life. Instead of waiting endlessly for motivation, just A.M.P it Up! This is her endeavour to give it back to the community in whatever little way possible.
A travel enthusiast and a perennial explorer, she loves food, fashion, people, and poetry. A momo lover and a coffee addict, she is a sucker for South Indian masala flicks and Korean dramas. She is the proud mom of an 11-year-old boy Rishaan and two lovely dogs, Hashtag and Lollypop.
For Ankurita, every day is a learning process. “The more you learn, the more you realise how less you know. Perfection is an Illusion, I am striving for Progress in Life”, she says.
