I want to play more and more challenging roles and movies…because I want to keep my audience entertained and bring to them something brand new every time.
Elsa Ghosh
Actor and Performer
What drew you towards acting?
I was always interested in this art ever since I was a kid…I used to stand in front of the mirror and do some goofy poses or renanct few scenes that I would have watched in any movies or something.
I used to go to my dance classes near the film studios in Kolkata and then suddenly one day a very renowned Bengali Director “Ravi Kinagi “ dropped by… saw my performance and immediately cast me in his Bengali film “100% Love” as a child artist So yahh I started my journey in the film industry ever since I was 9 years old.
How has been your journey from initial days of acting to being a Star in Chattisgarhi and Telugu films?
Well the journey has been quite up and down…working as a child actor in many Bengali films… I got my opportunity to debut as Heroine in an Odia film “Dipu the dance boy”, I was only 14 years old. Then one after the other I did many hit films there like “Bhairav”, “Tu Mo Sunachadhei”
Then at the mean time I got my opportunity in Chattisgarhi films as well. I made my debut in the Chattisgarhi film “Mayaru Ganga”. Then later on I did many more films like “sorry love you jaan” with Anuj Sharma, “Mahu kunwara tahu kunwari”directed by Manoj Verma, “Le shuru Hoge Maya Ke Kahani” directed by Satis Jain, “Mor Chainya Bhuinya 2” directed by satis Jain Meanwhile simultaneously I made my debut in the South Film industry in the year 2017. My first Telugu film was “Krishnarao Supermarket “
My other Telugu films :
“Ramudu Anukoledu Janaki Kalaganledu”
“Rudraveena”
My ongoing 2 PAN INDIA films releasing in 5 languages are:
“Zero”
“Gold 24 Caret Prema”
My ongoing Chattisgarhi film right now- “TeenaTappar” with Amlesh Nagesh directed by Pranav Jha
How much it is challenging for you to act in regional films of different languages?
Acting in any new language is in itself a very difficult task, we have to be well aware of how to pronounce the words properly with correct modulation and meaning and everything… I still remember, whether it was Odia film or Telugu film or Chattisgarhi film, when the first time I saw my script in all these languages during debut… I almost cried because I had no idea what I was reading…..but obviously slowly while doing many more films in all these languages I adapted myself to the culture and the language itself
I started learning and tried to understand when people spoke in their own languages and very soon I understood and learnt the spoken language
Do you follow a specific acting technique or methodology when preparing for a role?
I prefer to watch a lot of movies actually..I observe a lot how other actors have acted their roles… I in general observe a lot of people and try to use them in my roles.
You are a good dancer also. Pl share some of your achievements as a recognised dancer?
Well I have my full training in Bharatnatyam and katthak dancing as well as western dancing too.
I didn’t continue as a professional dancer for me to achieve any accolades…before I could persue something in dance… I got my chance to act as a child actor in films So my whole concentration shifted from dancing to acting
What is the importance of struggle period in your career. How do you accept day to day challenges in the creative field of acting?
I believe that the struggle that I have faced in my career has helped me to be utmost serious about my career actually… because the struggle has made me value my career and has taught me to not to take anything in my life for granted. I was not served anything on silver spoon. I didn’t get films just by sitting at home doing nothing or by applying any other sources..no I had to work hard… had to give several auditions and had to face several rejections… and all those failures of mine has taught me to be even better in my work and cherish my success Now when I see my films becoming superhit… all that crowd all my fans cheering my name…wanting to see me and my films…wanting to meet me…all that love from them makes me want to work even harder.
Talking about challenges…I love challenges….i want to play more and more challenging roles and movies…because I want to keep my audience entertained and bring to them something brand new every time.
It is very important for a woman to have a strong support to live her dreams.Who all have been your cheerleaders? And Who all have inspired you the most as a creative person?
We all know that generally parents and family don’t support kids when they want to persue their career in the artistic field. But I have been blessed to have the full support of my Parents. Both my mom and dad are equally and more enthusiastic than me towards my career… it is mine as well as my parent’s passion to see me achieve my goal. So I consider myself lucky that I have the complete support of my parents and they are all the inspiration that I need to boost up my energy and work hard.
You have worked with two legend directors of Chattisgarhi films Satish Jain and Manoj Verma. What difference you experienced while working with them. What are your compliments for them?
Well every director has their own visions… they have their own creativity and way of doing certain things but I have loved working with them both. Obviously their pattern of work is different but honestly I can’t say any difference. They are both commercial directors. Both of them have a lifetime of experience in this field of industry and I’m glad that I worked with them and got to learn a lot of things new.
Your recently released film “Mor Chahiyaa Bhuyiaan 2” is very well appreciated by the audience and it’s super hit movie. To whom you would like to give the credit of this big success?
First of all thanks from the bottom of my heart to all the people who have watched and loved this film. If you ask me about giving credits then I am going to give credits to Satis Jain sir for making this film and the entire cast and crew who did a lot of hard work and put their 200% and the audience of Chattisgarh who despite of the heat or rain…went to the theatres and watched our film In a way the credit goes to all of us actually
Pl tell us about your upcoming Chattisgarhi movie “ Teena Tappar.” What will be the main attraction of this film?
Eversince our film “Le shuru Hoge maya ke kahani” released… the audience have been asking and requesting repeatedly to see me and Amlesh Nagesh together in a movie again! So finally they get to see us as TENA and TAPPAR in our upcoming film TeenaTappar directed by Pranav Jha. It’s going to be a full on comedy and drama and romance and full on entertainment package for the audience and I’m sure they are going to love it.
In the field of Cinema one has to face criticism also, what is your experience. How do you deal with it?
I am open to critism..I mean you can’t make everyone like you right? People are going to have their opinions But I don’t let that affect my work I learn from the positive criticism to make myself even better and I simply ignore the negative criticism Why to let someone else’s negative judgement and opinions ruin my mood right?
Can you share some memorable moments from your career so far, both on-screen and off-screen?
I remember once I was shooting for my Odia film “Tu Mo Sunachadhei” and we were about to shoot the songs in Araku. The whole team was there in Vizag and I was supposed to join them the next day. On the day I was supposed to catch flight I had immense fever around 103 degrees. I was barely able to move or walk let alone go to my shoot and dance.
But anyhow we went and I had my makeup and hair done and it started raining and I knew for sure that I will definitely faint. But I don’t know what miracle happened, the minute I stepped outside the car and went in front of the camera, my fever was gone… completely gone. It was genuinely a miracle!! All of us were shocked
Are there any particular directors or actors you dream of collaborating with in the future? What kind of roles are you eager to explore?
Yes obviously I am open to working with good directors and actors… I don’t make any exceptions..if the script is good and I am genuinely convinced by the story I will definitely work. I am looking for more challenging roles… I want to do a full fledged Heroine oriented Action movie
How do you unwind from the demands of your career? Any hobbies or interests that you enjoy outside of acting?
Ans- I love to paint… but I also love to write and read a lot of books… literature is like my first love. I am currently working on a story of mine and hopefully I might debut as Director very soon
What are your aspirations for the future?
I aspire to make my parents proud and my audience even more entertained through my work. I aspire to bring many more good films many more superhit films in whichever language it may be.
What is your message for your fans?
