What has been your journey from initial stage of your interest in fashion and life style to being Mrs. India International and Mrs. Galaxy Queen India Winner?
I started as a Clinical Biochemist & Faculty of Bachelor Nursing Students but I never believed in having a monotonous life, I believed in versatile growth and I kept trying my hand in different things. Right from my childhood days, I was always keen to excel in all sorts of extracurricular activities, hence I had won Title of Miss Fresher in my Medical College back there in Kathmandu. And then post marriage, after settling down in Jodhpur I was fortunate to win the prestigious title of Mrs. Jodhpur and eventually, after winning 5 more titles at State Level, I got the privilege to represent Rajasthan at the National and International levels and finally winning the crowns of Mrs. India International and Mrs. Galaxy Queen of India. Since then, opportunities knocked my door but my heart never longed for the reel-glamour life so I chose the social welfare platform, which I think is the core objective of Pageants. And till date, within a span of 5 years I have attended more than 4K programs at state, national and international level as Celebrity Guest, Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, Jury, Pageant Coach, Special Guest and etc. and have shared stage with numerous dignitaries including politicians, bureaucrats, celebrities, social philanthropists in almost all cities of India and abroad too. So the journey indeed has been a ravishing one by God’s grace and good wishes of all.
How would you like to define succes in your career?
How you define success-defines you. Now, I usually describe success as the combination of accomplishments and happiness. Success isn’t a final destination. Rather, it’s a journey moving towards the accomplishment of the goals that matter to you and which really makes you happy from within. “Success is not in what you have, but who you are.” Success in life is determined by what you do every single day. This is why I am a big believer in practising consistent habits. Strong Determination is very important as it enables us to persist in the face of difficulties and makes us to march fearlessly ahead with faith until we achieve our goal. Secondly- There is nothing else as helpful as carrying of this optimistic, expectant attitude – the attitude which always looks for and expects the best, the highest and the happiest. We are all the products of our own thoughts. Whatever we concentrate upon, that we are. The daily habit of picturing oneself as a superb man sent to this beautiful planet with the divine mission and with ability and the opportunity to deliver it grandly gives a marvellous confidence uplifting power and perpetual encouragement and it is the best kind of capital with which to excel and prosper in life.
How much it was challenging for you to win the title of Mrs. India International?
Being a firm believer on the quote, “When there’s a strong will, there’s always a beautiful way to it”, I enjoyed the journey right from the auditions to winning. I was blessed to have a great support system by families and my spouse. Nevertheless, being a newly made mommy it was quite little challenging. My baby was that time just 14 months and also I was working. So I had to make a fine balance between my work responsibilities and also my baby along with the preparations of the International pageant. Rest, I was never someone who participated just with the thought of winning, rather I wanted just to deliver my best and hence I enjoyed each and every bit of it. Winning the title was definitely like a cherry on cake.
You are an icon of women empowerment with multiple achievements. What should be actual empowerment for women for their rights?
I genuinely think women are truly empowered already in today’s time. Right from ancient history, our goddesses have been credited with the creation of health, wealth, almighty power, education, etc however, women today just need that final push, someone to hotwire the car that will run like a rocket later. Women now need a society that is excited to accept the newfound, profound confidence and empowerment coupled with the intense thought process they bring to the table. Also, the men should be prepared of synchronising with women, that works in a symbiotic relationship instead of the one-way parasitic one that exists currently.
Being a woman, and also Brand Ambassador of women Empowerment I would proudly say that Women are the real architects of the society. The empowerment of women and the improvement of their political, social, economic and health status is a highly important end in itself. In addition, it is essential for the achievement of sustainable development.
Education is one of the most important means of empowering women with the knowledge, skills and self-confidence necessary to participate fully in the development process and also to be financially independent. Also Government should take measures to promote the fulfilment of girls’ and women’s potential through education, skills development and the eradication of illiteracy for all girls and women without discrimination of any kind, giving paramount importance to the elimination of poverty and ill health. And every possible action should be taken to remove all gender gaps and inequalities pertaining to women’s livelihoods.
Who inspired you most in your life?
My Inventors- My PARENTS!
Mr. Mal Chand & Mrs. Naveena Somani. They have made me who I am today. I am not the one to rush behind celebrities. The cultural degradation that leads to is astronomical as can be seen with the general American public. I have seen my parents, experienced their experiences, learnt from them, celebrities on the other hand only offer a very quixotic view and angle of the world that is seemingly realistic but bridges to surrealism. My parents have guided me since the very beginning, all their investment is reaping massive returns today which is visible. Also, my elder sister Dr. Riddhi Maheshwary has always been my eternal Guardian Angel.
What are your priorities for social work as a celebrity?
As a celebrity its not just my duty, but my passion to motivate youngsters as well as women because thousands of people count upon me to be their role model, to stand up and speak out. I love to groom and mentor people, teach them the nitty gritties of the glamour world. The twin role of mine as a social philanthropist demands to create a Domino effect for monumental changes in society and its working. Currently I am working for women empowerment, health education, youth empowerment, upliftment of women from rural areas, health sector, Thalassemia Awareness, Blood Donation Awareness, Milk Donation Awareness, Motivating Youth and students, working for Sustainable Development Goals, Education for needy students, environment conservation etc. These are the sectors I am making tireless efforts to contribute in bringing remarkable changes.
What are your suggestions to beauty talents/mothers those who want to be recognized in this field?
I only have one line to say, “The Art of all Arts is to make one’s life A Perpetual Victory”. Be patient and never lose hope, eventually your consistency and perseverance would pay off more than raw talent. Learn the most from whatever platform you get a chance from people who bank on you. Beauty is not just how you look but your presence of mind and your poise along with your confidence in communications is what changes the game. Don’t try to be like someone, rather be the Best Version of Yourself and groom yourself accordingly. Be a Beauty with Purpose and stand out.
Pls tell us about objectives of Indo Nepal Green Mission.
Relations between India and Nepal are immemorial. Both are neighboring nations, along with this there is a lot of similarity in the religious, cultural, linguistic and historical status of both the nations. Independent India and Nepal gave new energy to their special relations through the India-Nepal Peace and Friendship Treaty of 1950. I have been honoured as Brand Ambassador of Indo-Nepal Green Mission which was launched by Erik Solheim- Executive Director of United Nations Environment Programme and Vishnu Lamba- Tree Man of India from Shree Kalpataru Sansthan to Contribute to the preservation of culture and nature of both countries as both the territory share a common ecosystem.
You are a successful business entrepreneur. What are your suggestions for women entrepreneurs, facing various problems in family and outside,to fulfill their dreams?
Being an entrepreneur is a difficult job. Its a fast changing market. Further, being a woman makes it all the more tougher due to other familial responsibilities that we have to take care of as an essential part of society. Yet, things like consistency and sincere hard work are the simplest but rigorous regimentary changes to maintain and they are what the point of difference is. Representing organisations as their brand ambassador, having national and international association and being a public figure, for somebody like me time management is essential. And finally, leadership stands at the core of this house of a myriad pillars.
What do you think is the reasons behind large number of people having to deal with mental illness today. Would you like to work for mental health awareness?
I think in this fast jet age of hurry and speed, people lack a loving ear and heart with empathy, that can understand them inside out. They need a sliver of love, a pinch of affection and a spoonful of understanding to exfoliate the many stereotypes and fear that they possess regarding speaking up. They curl up their feelings inside, ticking like a little bomb, waiting for something to trigger it and explode. The fault is of both parties, those who don’t speak and those who don’t listen but, this cultural phenomenon would only be cured through coalescence on a large scale. Regardless of an age barrier, they all need peer understanding on a larger scale. They must have the freedom to share their innermost thoughts and feelings so that there’s not much stress regarding mental and emotional health
I have already been actively working for mental health awareness and have delivered loads of motivational talks, similar kind of seminars, conducted such talk shows on the occasion of world mental health day, writing on positive thoughts and optimistic contents too.
Which color you love the most and dress, western or Indian traditional?
Well…. I wear all kind of attires and also like to play with all possible colours. It would be injustice to pick one. Yet I would say I love to dress up as per the occasion and place. Graceful and elegant looks never go out of vogue. So I just follow this key formula. Pastel colours, Baby Pink and Green would be my pick for daytime and black and blue for the evenings.
What you want to do for your social responsibilities ?
Social Responsibility can really start with this axiom of figuring out how we can, in the realm of our own lives, really start improving the lives of other people. This could start by doing philanthropic works for causes we believe in and move onto volunteering time and effort towards them and ultimately to making full fledged lives and careers towards in the social sector which primarily exists to help improve the lives of people. This is an entire spectrum and where you fit in will depend on your goals and aspirations individually.
Being a social activist and also part of many regional, national and international associations, I would like to do something remarkable against Girls Trafficking and Street Children. And also to make India Thalassemia free.
You are always beautiful, fit and energetic with natural smile. What is the secret behind this divine beauty and glow?
I am a fitness freak. I work out regularly but more importantly I treat my body like a temple. Absolute health is one of the greatest pleasures of life and missing out on that is a shame. I absolutely adore different forms of exercise so that my body can be flexed and utilised to its best abilities, for that, I do zumba often and maintain a rigorous fitness regime. Detoxification of my body is another beautiful way of clearing the cloudy mind and bringing freshness to the body. Meditation and chants are the last piece of the jigsaw, focusing on mental health.
The aura, the glow, the vibes, the energy. These are what bring out the beauty of a person and they are all solely dependent on your internal wellbeing and inner allure. Spiritual awakening should be cleansed and the aura would burst, glowing out of you. My faith resides in mother nature and not in the cosmetics industry or comedogenic products.
Which is your favorite quote?
“Strongly Believe In Yourself & The World will Believe in You”
“The Art of All Arts is to Make One’s Life A Perpetual Victory”
These are not just my favourite quotes but I follow them religiously as my life’s principles.
