Dr. Swati Daithankar
Being a world renowned Bharatnatyam exponent Dr.Swati is Gold medalist of Mumbai University and National Scholarship and National Research Fellowship holder.She is known as a experimental thinker dancer who always used her dance as a powerful medium to explore and showcase the social awareness through her expressive Dance dramas performed all over the globe.Neityayoga is her thesis for the title Sangeetacharya and Nupurnaad Academy Of Music and Dance is her own recognised Bharatnatyam institute running successfully in Pune,Maharashtra.

What were the challenges faced by you in becoming a television dancer?
I have worked, danced & acted for television for past so many years and my talent was always appreciated there. Many prime episodes were based they on my solo and group performance. They call me from Pune and telecast my dance, whether, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai or Hyderabad.
Our readers would like to know about your VCDs and DVDs which became popular at different musical platforms? How satisfied are you with your dance project “Sur Shayam Ranga?” How was the response to “Tejonidhi” dance drama which you performed successfully on various platforms?
I have already talked about my VCDs and DVDs took place in International market and those were Best sellers, “Sur shyam Rang” was based on the poetry of saint Surdas Tejonidhi, based on Swami Vivekananda is thoughts, Panchakanya, Nrityabani was based on Saint poetry in Gurubaani, Padmini was the dance project based on flower lotus, Radha – The Eternal Longing, was based on sublime, love, Shivohum based on Adi Shakaracharya poetry Rajas Sukumar, based or Marathi “Saints’ literature. So I have worked in Marathi, Hindi, Sanskrit, Braja, Punjabi, Bengali languages and got viewers almost around the Globe! I am – grateful to God.
What are your priorities as a faculty of dance in Gandharv Mahavidyalay and as the founder of Nupurnad Academy of Music and Dance?
My brainchild is my academy. “Napurnaad”, which is pursuing the greater heights day by day as my students are getting National Scholarships, Fellowships and decorate under my guidence. I have students from throughout India, Singapore, Gulf and USA. I am faculty in Pune University, Bharati Vidyapeeth & Dr. D.Y. Patil University and Vedic Wellness University (USA).
What are your personal views about women empowerment?
Regarding women Empowerment I strongly believe that the best helping hand starts with our own shoulders and woman is power (Shakti) herself! she can manage Work, Life & home on her own very well, she should not be dependent on anybody else emotionally, good education and monitory freedom can lead her to manage her house & Career Not only that she had the power to lead the country! our president is the greatest example of woman Empowerment herself, she is the idol & Pride for all of us.
What are your expectations from the State Government for promoting Bharatanatyam in present scenario?
I would love it there will be funding or pension to the classical dancers who have represented our motherland in the universe Scholarship, Fellowships Padma Awards are there already, but the exponents should be provided plots for Dance institutes too as these are the Samskar Kendras for our coming generations.
In your professional career, who supported you the most, men or women?
In my professional career men and women both supported me throughout in different situations.
Swati is an introvert or extrovert by nature?
I am totally extrovert by nature, and loving the same.
How do you face and overcome tough situations in personal and professional life?
I always like to take up the challenges. Our profession is such that we have to face the challenges different difficult situations as we perform around the world, but I believe the goodness in humans and support of God all the time. I am used to hard work & believe in rehearsals, mainly I believe strongly in myself and I overcome the circumstances successfully!
In the field of creativity there is certain criticism too. What is your experience? How do you deal with it?
If you get criticized you are famous and few people are afraid of you! and So I take criticism positively and just try to provide them more & more my opportunities to see my work and achievements. I just Work really hard & steady.
Who inspired you the most in your life?
My mother Mrs. Rajani Kulkarni has inspired me a lot, she was a leading theatre artist in her times & the way she managed her career, house & our careers.
You have won various prestigious awards in the field of dance and music. How significant are these awards for you?
Yes, of course awards are the mile stones for me, a big support & encouragement for me to pursue my dreams more efficiently.
You are always fit and energetic. What is the reason behind your tremendous energy?
Exercises, Diet, Dance rehearsals and disciplined happy happy life style with dedication and my audience apploud are the secrets of my energy and of course blessings of Almighty!
