What were the initial Challenges you faced to prove your talent?
Due to various health challenges during my childhood and growing up days, I grow up as a introvert person and people miss took this as a lack of confidence on my part. During the production of the film Cookie, when I found some of the key players not performing their duties up to the mark, I stepped in and took over those responsibilities and this proved not only to myself but others that I could take on these challenges head on and overcome them successfully.
You are managing director of Sixth Sense Cine Vision Pvt Ltd. What are your major responsibilies at this post?
I look after my company along with my mother. We mutually decide on various projects and while she looks after the various tie up with the actors and the corporate, I look after the creative and technical aspects related to the project.
Your mother Smita Tripathi is a renowned film producer and director of bollywood industry. What is her role in the way of your success?
My mother being a film producer is often in contact with various personalities of the film industry and due to this I too get a chance to get exposed and rub shoulders with various successful people who are my ideals and that gives me an opportunity to learn and continue to grow which is a big help in furthering my career.
You are a multitalented personality and you have played a character of Naidu in the play “1962 Rezang la ke Shaheed” how do you experience this role and response from audience?
Playing a role in the theatre is a big challenge for a beginner in the acting field. I did my debut from the theatre in order to hone my skills since, while acting in a play before the live audience, there is no scope of retakes or correcting the mistakes. I had to remember long monologues and execute them with perfection keeping the other actors on stage in mind. During staging of the play 1962 Rezang la ke Shaheed, I learnt a lot and got loads of love and appreciation from the audience.
You are a creative producer of hindi feature film “Cookie” which was well appreciated overall. What is your message in this film and how much you are satisfied with performance of the film?
I believe strongly in the content of any film. Cookie is film based on a very strong character in form of a 18 year old teenager whose qualified psychiatric parents also found it extremely difficult to handle her. The film gives a strong message to the present generation of parents and children that things can easily go wrong suddenly and lead to severe complications if these issues are not nipped in the bud.
What were the hurdels you faced for this film and its release?
We come from an academically oriented family and the creative fields of Bollywood are alien to most of them, thus inviting mistrust and lack of support on their part. Finances were a constant challenge as the film was made through own resources and crowd funding.
During the production of the film we also had to overcome the hindrance of ill intentioned team members who were looking forward to servings their personal interests. Also in the process of release of the film my mother suffered a brain hemorrhage leading to stroke. Still we faught through these obstacles and successfully released the film.
What is your message for the upcoming creative producers to prove their talent?
I feel there is a strong requirement to believe in one self and continuously keep upgrading the skill sets both technically and in soft skill areas. One needs to keep own dreams and passion in the forefront and not depend on others to sail you through on this journey.
You have struggled with dyslexia in your childhood and how did you overcome from this and proven yourself a successful creative personality?
Dislexia is just a learning disability in certain fields. All of us are not equally equipped in all fields and have some weak areas. For me the challenge was recognising letters, words and numbers. I overcame these by equipping myself with the computer and various softwares. My immediate family support was tremendous and they treated these limitations as non issues. They encouraged me to grow like a normal person and focussed on the things I could do easily. My mother has been a constant support catering to all my needs and limitations and with passage of time I have been able to overcome these problems to live a normal life. After my theatrical debut I am now looking forward to playing a role in the web series titled Shubham se Shaurya Tak.
What are your targets in your life?
I want to keep upgrading myself technically and socially and keep evolving myself for the roles I want to play in life. Like any other person, I want to be financially successful and also earn the love, respect and admiration of family, friends and peers. I also have a target to do something for the society the way I see some film personalities do even today. I have a soft corner for animals and would like to spend time and energy caring for them.
