You are highly educated and hold many qualifications. Pl tell us about your academic achievements in the field of music?
I did M.com from Pune University. I was learning music from Lt.Smt. Veena Sahasrabuddhe ji and her deciple Anjali tai in my college days. After marriage I learned classical music from Meera Bhagwat ma’am till Sangeet Visharad. Once I meet Varsha Bhave ma’am who Is a prominent personality in music and she advised to do MA in Music from SNDT University. So I did my MA in music too. I used to write poems since school days. While singing the compositions of different music directors, I learned the art of composing the music. I did a diploma in Sound engineering from Soundideaz Academy and now doing compositions and music too.
Please tell us about your musical journey after initial performances to being recognized playback singer?
While learning classical music, I used to participate in singing compitetions and got the prizes too. I used to listen to Jagjit Singh ji, Hariharan, Asha Bhosle ji, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, A.R. Rehman songs a lot in my struggling days. It was my wish to sing semi classical and light music. And the opportunity came through a musical Play “Sangeet Bayaa Daar Ughad “ by Awishkar Theater. There were 40 songs I used to sing live in the play. I did 150 shows of it. Similarly I also sang for NCPA productions under the guidance of Director/actor/bollywood screenplay writer – Akash Khurana, Prithvi theatre, IPTA, Mumbai University’s (Mangesh Bansode) theatre academy plays. While singing for the plays I got many opportunities to sing Que tracks of renowned singers and music album’s in Hindi and Marathi. I have also sung in Punjabi, Gujrathi and Sanskrit languages. I have sung around 200 songs including devotional, romantic songs , Semi classical and ghazals including renowned music labels like T-,Seris, Hungama Music,Tantra Music, Spotify, Apple Music, RV Bhakti etc. Recently I have sung for 2 Hindi and 1 Marathi movie, serial etc.
What is the significance of struggle period in your music career?
I took struggle as a challenge for myself. Each and every hurdle in my music life started making me more and more patient, stronger and helped me to understand people in more positive way. It’s a motivating force too. I feel God creates some plans for us and we need to achieve it through hardwork, patience and believing in yourself.
Pl Tell us about the most memorable music composition of yours?
My first composed Sai Song” Maze Chitti Tuze Dhyaan”in Marathi is my memorable music composition. It is also streamed on 9x Marathi. After this song my composition journey started.
You are a multitalented personality. What is most challenging for you singing or creating music?
Singing comes first. Singing different songs in different moods and textures is more challenging. You need to justify the composition, lyrics through singing. Also getting right song for your voice texture is a
Challenge and destiny too.
In the music industry, one has to face criticism also, what is your experience? How do you deal with it?
Yes. Criticism is also part of life. I take negative things also sportingly and positively. Criticism is a sign of progress for me. Accept it and move on.
What is the key attraction of your first music play?
The play was based on the revolutionary thoughts expressed by female saints from 13th to 19th century through Abhangas.The story(director- Sushma Deshpande)and music By Devdatta Sable sir was the key attraction of the play.
You have worked with internationally recognized directors and actors. How was your experience while working with different cine personalities?
It was really a great experience. Luckily I got an experience of singing live in theater which improved my imagination and creativity. The thought of Director and music director behind the song and the scene, also to match the voice for different actors helped me to sing better in playback, recordings also. Studio singing techniques are quite different then live singing. In this renowned and talented music directors, recordists in industry helped me a lot. I am really thankful to them.
Your classical songs are much appreciated by the audience. How do you feel while performing the Classical songs?
Riyaaz of classical music helps a lot to sing classical based songs. Still it’s more challenging and interesting to sing classical based songs either live or in studio.
In your career of music who supported you the most?
My professional career in music actually started after marriage and after having 2 kids. My husband is a backbone for me and my kids and now family too. And from the music industry Kuldeep Singh ji and Anup Jalota ji supported and blessed me a lot. Also I would like to thank all my Guru’s, music directors, directors including Devaki tai Pandit, Jaswinder Singh ji for giving me immense knowledge in Music.
What is your message to upcoming singing talents of reality shows.Most of the participants are still struggling to be recognized in bollywood music industry?
The talents coming from really shows are realily amazing. One can earn a good money and fame may be faster but to earn a goodwill and name takes time. Continuity in Riyaaz and patience is required. Worship of godess Saraswati is required first. Lakshmi comes automatically behind it.
Tejaswini is introvert or extrovert by nature?
I was an introvert and shy person before but after coming in this industry I started opening up. Now I am more confident and extrovert person than before.
What are your expectations from your life partner to fulfill your dreams?
A trust,support and an encouragement to move ahead is very essential in this field. And I am fortunate to receive it.
What is the role of spirituality in your life?
I never realized in my childhood and youth days that somewhere I have strong roots of spirituality in my life. When I turn back now I realize that I was able to face difficult situations successfully in my life with the help of spiritual roots inside me.
