The time has come when Indian academician’s retrospect the value chains of Global education thrust by NEP and its successive innovations wherein “Make in India” or Atmanirbhar Bharat is fast changing the landscapes of Indian ethos and educational platforms. Indian Global thrust is not new but has once been feathered by Nehruvian policies when post 1947 Indian strategy and policymakers ran a vibrant campaign to industrialize Educational values. Great thinkers like P.C. Mahalanobis has planted such seeds in foundation of great institutes like IIT, ISI, IIM wherein autonomy and innovative teaching methods were inculcated to bring in an academic liberty which couldn’t see the day as Subaltern thought process and colonial schools of thought paralyzed human endeavors in India. There were historical events in Western countries which saw rise of China and Japan wherein India fell short due to a rapidly falling trigger in health, education and infrastructure. This led to the brainwashing of Elites passing out of Elite schools to move and envision dreams in distant America which became a land of opportunity during the 1960s
Successive government measures under Prime minister Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi tried to bring in change but drastically couldn’t move ahead due to Indian sentiments and middle class thought process which were highly protected from Westernisation. The soviet bloc and its influence on Indian Education system also saw a leftist bend towards improvisation and global challenge disruption. Post 1991 saw the true champion of causes when the youth saw opportunities achievable and multidisciplinary approaches to science education flourishing with the new wealth creators of nation. Post 2000 the world was busy contemplating wealth of nations through rapid internet and information technology booms going through a jungle of purpose driven management education. India was highly reflected by the thorough causes and casualties arising from Global wealthy youths who took to entrepreneurship by the late 2010.Those were the days the MBA curriculum saw rise of miniature entrepreneurs in India. Post 2010 the government thrusted the need to nurture homegrown productivity and changes in patenting system.
There were rise of the digitalization and digital citizens who needed a change in education policy wherein global outlooks and international innovation were achievable sitting in India.2020 National Educational Policy saw the rapid liberalization of Indian education system with a need to change the polarization which was happening globally. The thrust for entrepreneurial university structure was fast felt wherein academic institutions were fast becoming centers of excellence. The 3Ds of Diversity, digitization and disruption changed the way Global educational policies emerged wherein India Way with tradition and age old ethics changed the way pupils perceived education in India. A more 2Is like Innovation and Inclusion with a flavor of diversity was the best tonic which was felt when Western thought leadership fused with Indian ethos. Times are fast changing! So we should as academicians adapt, change and envision a leadership goals which is not only Indian at heart but can teach the rest of the world with sacrosanct measures!
